                  THE LABURNUM TOP                                      - by Ted Hughes Central idea :- The poem ' The laburnum top' is a beautiful poem in which the poet has used the laburnum tree and Goldfinch as a symbol of life and its fluctuations . In this poem the poet describe how the visit of a Goldfinch changes the laburnum tree. The Goldfinch transforms the tree and make it come alive as the chicks of the Goldfinch start to Rustle and chirp on seeing her. Once the Goldfinch leaves the tree it becomes quite and still again. The laburnum tree symbolises the pattern of our life in general which is usually dull and inanimate. The Goldfinch break the usual pattern and make it lively.                   A PHOTOGRAPH                                         -SHERLEY TOULSON       CENTRAL IDEA  Shirley Toulson 's poem" A  photograph" is a tribute to her mother . The poem describe three stages in the passage of time. In the first stage, the photograph shows the poet's mother is standing at the beach of enjoying her holiday with her to girl cousin. She was around 12 years old at that time. The second stage Take us 20or30 years later. The mother would laugh at the way she and her cousin were dressed up for the beach holiday. In the third stage of the poet remembers the dead mother with a heavy heart.
